drnuke: Russia DID NOT ATTACK Georgia!

The world. You deceive! World mass media conduct propagation of a false information. Russia DID NOT ATTACK Georgia! 07.08.2008 at 22:00 Georgia has attacked South Ossetia. At 3:30 08.08.2008 tanks of the Georgian armies have entered into city Tskhinvali. Artillery bombardment all the day long proceeded, fights with use of tanks and heavy combat material, both against ossetic armies, and against peace inhabitants were conducted. 2000 civil people already were lost. The Russian peacemakers have arrived to South Ossetia in the evening 08.08.2008 for settlement of the conflict and prompting of the world in republic and protection of the Russian citizens living on territory of South Ossetia. Georgia has attacked South Ossetia on eve of Olympiad, it is top of cruelty and cynicism. We shall tell is not present to WAR!!!

The Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has called the Georgian assault “a crime”.

He has personally toured the beds of the injured, and spoken with refugees, across the border in North Ossetia, inside Russia. He said he could no longer bear to listen to their appalling stories.

One women told him she had seen relatives pushed into a house which was then set on fire. Another described an old woman and two children being crushed by a Georgian tank. Putin insisted it was “beyond the imagination of any civilised person”.

The prime minister returned to Moscow adamant that Russian intervention in South Ossetia was completely justified.

In front of television cameras, speaking to President Dmitry Medvedev, Putin said:
“People are in a difficult situation, especially old people, children and women. They have seen a lot of suffering. I would like to draw your attention, Mr President, to elements of genocide against South Ossetian people”

It appears there are moves to create humanitarian corridors for refugees to flee. But Georgia insists nothing has yet been agreed.

No western cameras in South Ossetia
The conflict over Georgia’s breakaway republic is as much about information as it is about weapons. South Ossetia's press service claims Western media outlets can't be trusted because they haven't been operating in the region ”since the conflict began”.

sonof2ravens: EFF Warns That Email Privacy Is In Jeopardy

Snagged from slashdot:

"According to the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a dangerous legal precedent has just been set that can potentially unravel existing federal privacy protections for e-mail and Internet usage. The alert from the EFF is not just to sound a general warning, but it also takes the form of an Amicus curiae (friend of the court) brief, filed with the federal 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals, asking for the court's legal finding to be overturned... The findings of this case could become the foundation of a legal precedent upon which other similar cases can subsequently be based. If that were to be the case, then the unauthorized retrieving of e-mails from an e-mail server would not be considered a violation of the federal Wiretap Act, which will then open the door for government-sponsored snooping."

sonof2ravens: ACLU Warns of Next Pass At Telecom Immunity

The ACLU has reportedly uncovered another pass at telecom immunity and is urging concerned citizens to speak out against what they call a "dangerous backroom deal."
"But now, word comes that House leadership may be working hand-in-hand with Senator Jay Rockefeller, the Democratic Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, who has spearheaded efforts to give immunity to law-breaking phone companies that provided mountains of customer data to the government without warrants. As discussions continue, it's critical that House leadership avoid buckling to pressure from the White House or Senator Rockefeller at all costs. House leadership — and every representative — need to draw a line in the sand, by rejecting any compromise that would undo the achievement we fought so hard for in February."

sonof2ravens: This is why I'm Green not a democrat.

FDR must rolling in his grave. With the coming recession Depression brought on by 28 years of voodoo economics & peak oil, these are just exactly the kind of people we need in power. NOT!
If your a progressive Dem you need to take the party back from the DLC wing.

In Los Angeles we have a station called KTALK 1150 and they host Air America Radio. I can't tell you how happy I was when Randi Rhodes was yanked off of Air America because I can't stand her constant whining. The other day I was driving in my car and I flipped the station to KTALK and low and behold I heard her voice. Supposedly, Nova M Radio has picked her up and her show is being broadcasted on our liberal talk radio station. I am so upset about this because I think she's a terrible representation of the liberal party and I think that her show is extremely redundant and boring. The last time I listened to her show it was basically a hatefest directed towards Hillary Clinton. It seems like a lot of the liberal talk radio hosts are not being fair when it comes to keeping an open mind about the candidates. Does anyone agree with me? And how do you guys feel about Randi? Personally, I can't stand her.

sonof2ravens: Randi & Sam

Well you prolley heard about Randi Rhodes.
Sam was trying to get her spot after she left but.
Richard Belzer apparently got Randi's slot I might have done that if I could not have gotten Sam.
But I'm surprised they pulled that.
However Sam mentions in a e-mail his contact is coming to an end as well. Will he jump ship?
Who knows from what I am hearing there was a contract standoff with Randi. She claims that they wanted her back but with an added clause in here contact.
I was a little put off when Mark Green referred to her as "that person" tonight on his show.
Must have been some negotiation there. WIill AA survive this boneheaded move?

Found this on you tube.

sonof2ravens: So what is the verdict on Air America 2.0?

I hate they moved Sam Seder off to weekends.
Kind of like Air Americans but still catch Malloy when he comes on.
I can take Lionel sometimes. Though I wish he would drop the pop culture focus.

sonof2ravens: Ok I have to weigh in on Seder

This is just a mess bad enough they kicked sam to weekends.
But neither his new show nor his replacement will be on until May 14th or so.
So now they have some really bad replacement.
Talk about a clusterfuck.
Who is running that group. Nova M is looking needed more now than ever.
I need my Seder during the week!
